Short answer: no. I am leaving the stocks I have where they are but raising cash, as I have said before. September tends to be a declining month on average but you really never know if 1) this year will be different, 2) when the market will come roaring back.
Cash is great but selling off all you have is usually a bad move. Actually, selling any after a big decline is almost always a seriously bad idea. Better to either do it in advance (take profits) or wait for the deflate to re-inflate.
So what do you do through the pain? Figure out what to do once the markets come back. Or if is the decline of all declines, when to start putting your cash to work.
The stock I am most concerned with declined 10% today but is still at least 3 digits so I feel ok.
My kid’s accounts probably took a good hit but they have years and years to go so they will be fine. The account I manage for my mom was barely affected today so all good there.
The market is always silly so nothing new there. So hey, hang in there. Be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful.
Tomorrow it’ll probably be up followed by Thursday that’ll be down.
